 53183 Dvr Albert Hayes

Royal Engineers

Dvr. Albert Hayes  served throughout the war with the Royal Engineers. I have his 1914-15 star which means he was also entitled to the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. He would have arrived in France between 5 Aug 1914 and December 1915 so was probably a mobilised reservist or TA soldier. Sadly his service record was one of those destroyed in a luftwaffe raid in 1940 so I know nothing more about him.

He is not listed among the fallen so almost certainly survived the war. Was he a relative of yours?
